Great news for Briksy!

The innovative non-metallic bed joint reinforcement has successfully obtained its National Technical Assessment (NTA). The corresponding product certificate has now also been issued. This marks an important milestone for Briksy and provides further confirmation of the product’s performance.

Briksy extensively tested

The National Technical Assessment (NTA) was issued by TZÚS Praha (Technical and Test Institute for Construction Prague).

The NTA covers the use of solidian Briksy as non-metallic bed joint reinforcement for structural applications in reinforced masonry and composite lintels.

As part of the technical assessment, several properties and performance characteristics of Briksy were evaluated:

• Properties of the glass fibre mesh
• Tensile strength and elongation, both in the original condition and after alkaline conditioning
• Flexural strength of composite lintels
• Shear resistance of composite lintels
• Flexural strength of masonry reinforced with Briksy
• Bond strength of the reinforcement in masonry

Product certificate also obtained

Shortly after the NTA, the official product certificate for Briksy was also issued. This confirms that Briksy and its production comply with the requirements laid down in the NTA.

Together, the NTA and product certificate provide an important technical basis for Briksy as a non-metallic bed joint reinforcement.

What is Briksy?

Briksy is a non-metallic bed joint reinforcement supplied in rolls and made from alkali-resistant glass fibre. The reinforcement is installed directly in the horizontal mortar joints of masonry and helps prevent cracking while improving the performance and durability of the masonry. Briksy can be used in both internal and external walls.

The key difference compared with traditional steel bed joint reinforcement? Briksy contains no metal and therefore cannot corrode.

This offers several practical advantages:

• Corrosion-resistant– no risk of rust
• Lightweight– easy to carry and handle on site
• Supplied in rolls – compact for transport and storage
• Quick to install – easy to unroll and cut to size
• For internal and external walls – the same reinforcement can be used for both applications
